Award 2013

In year 2013, the PG Kostyuk Foundation award was given for the third time. Overall,there were 12 applicants from various scientific institutions such as Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivsk), O.Ya. Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics of the NASU (Ukraine, Kharkiv), Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the NASU (Ukraine, Kharkiv),  Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the NASU (Ukraine, Kyiv), Palladin Institute of Biochemistry of the NASU (Ukraine, Kyiv), Institute of Microbiology and Virology of the NASU (Ukraine, Kyiv), Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the NASU.

  The Foundation board named the winners two days before opening of the III Ukrainian conference of young Scientists Physiology: from molecules to organism that took place at Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology on October 24-25, 2013. PG Kostyuk Foundation award was given to two young scientists: Oleg Luschak (Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University) and Olena Fedorenko (Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the NASU).



Congratulatory speech at a gala announcing the PG Kostyuk Foundation awardees contest was given by deputy director of Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the NASU Dr. Nana V. Voytenko. She said: The PG Kostyuk Foundation is honored to present its awardfor the third time. Pupils of Platon G. Kostyuk work and live around the world. They established this foundation in his memory and to support development of physiological sciences in Ukraine. Physiology is fundamental medical researches and healthcare. Foundation activity directed to help young and promising Ukrainian biomedical scientists. This year the foundation council has taken into account the following: originality and innovation of the study; usage of all available resources for the goal; significance of demonstrated ideas and achieved results; scientific achievements and quality of published works. By all of these parts the Oleg Luschak (Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University) and Olena Fedorenko (Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the NASU) were chosen to be winners. Today we have a special guest, Dr. Sten Grillner, the secretary general of International Brain Research Organization IBRO. With pleasure I ask him to present diplomas and money rewards to the winners.

In his speech, Dr. Sten Grillnerrecalled his first visit to Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology back in 1971. Then he was invited by Platon G. Kostyuk. From that time he has regarded Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology as one of leading scientific organizations in physiological studies and, especially, in the area of electrophysiological


Dr. Sten Grillner congratulated the winners of this year contest Olena Fedorenko and Oleg Luschak.He wished them further successful steps in their scientific career.

Head of conference council, president of Ukrainian Physiological Society, Director of Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the NASU,Academician of the NASU Oleg O. Krishtal, stated, that he highly appreciatescontributions from every person that supported PG Kostyuk Foundation. He thankedfor support from pupils of Platon G. Kostyuk.

After receiving awards, the winners delivered lectures about their current scientific achievements and future plans.

At the end of gala meeting, Dr. Sten Grillner gave a great lecture.
